Could Marsy’s Law for Florida inadvertently increase the risk of executing innocent individuals?

Marsy’s Law for Florida does not introduce new procedures or alter existing mechanisms for addressing wrongful convictions or establishing innocence in capital cases. These processes, including avenues for seeking exoneration or presenting newly discovered evidence, were already in place before the passage of Marsy’s Law.

Marsy's Law focuses on ensuring crime victims have enforceable rights and equal standing with the accused and convicted within the legal system while maintaining the integrity of due process. It does not create conflicts with existing procedures for ensuring justice and fairness in criminal cases.
